GENERAL QUESTIONS

 

1)    What is book&borrow?


book&borrow is an online book rental service that provides free door-to-door delivery and pickup for your reading comfort. By becoming a member, you can select a reading plan best suited to you and Queue the books you'd love to read. Books are delivered to you at your doorstep and you can read at your own pace, without having to worry about library fines or renewal hassles.

2)    Why book&borrow.com?


In this day and age where people seldom find the time to do the things they love, book&borrow provides you a convenient, affordable and intelligent means to enjoy a good book and communicate with other book lovers. 3)    How many copies of each book do you keep?


We have multiple copies of most of the books in our library. Based on customer demand, we keep increasing titles as well.

 

4)    How do I become a member?


Simply fill out our Registration form and take a look at our subscription plans. You may choose one of four plans that best suit your reading style. Each plan gives you the benefits of reading the latest bestsellers as well classics for a period of six months, without having to worry about monthly payments, due dates, late fees or returns (book&borrow not only delivers books at your doorstep, we pick them up too)! Once you select a plan, indicate your mode of payment (cash, cheque or card) and begin enjoying our services immediately! Sign up now.

 

5)    How long can I keep the book?


Take your time in reading our books. There are no due dates or late fees to be worried about. However, do remember that the next set of titles on your book Queue will not be shipped to you until you indicate that you are ready to return your previous set.  Please also keep in mind that there may be several other members who have requested a book that you have borrowed and while we make an effort to keep multiple copies of a single title in stock, the stock is limited. We request you to please be considerate of other members and to return books in a timely manner.  To help you keep track of books you have borrowed, we will send you a reminder when you exceed a month’s duration of keeping a set of books.


6)    How do I know if I have read a book?


We have provided a "Reading history" to help our members look at what they have read. You can always re-read your favorite books.


7)    Can I cancel my membership?


You may cancel your membership any time you want. You will have to return the books you currently hold and your security deposit will be subsequently refunded to you. Please take the time to write to us telling us why you are cancelling your subscription.

 

8)    Can I rejoin?

Of course you may – we’d love to have you back!





SUBSCRIPTION PLANS

1)    What are the different plans available?


We have four plans you can choose from, depending on your reading style. Each plan gives you UNLIMITED free home delivery & pickup and allows you to keep the books for as long as you want. You can choose a plan for either a 6 month duration or an annual duration. The plans differ in the number of books per shipment – choose between 1, 2, 3 or 4 books delivered per shipment.


Lite Reader: This plan is for the reader who likes to take it slow. Read up to 1 book per delivery, unlimited deliveries for 6 months or one year.

Subscription fee:  Rs.199 per month.

 

Relaxed Reader: This option is for relaxed reading comfort. This plan allows you to read up to 2 books per delivery, unlimited deliveries for 6 months or one year.

Subscription fee:  Rs.299 per month.

 

Regular Reader: Read up to 3 books per delivery, unlimited deliveries for 6 month/1 year.

Subscription fee:  Rs.399 per month.

 

Super Reader: A truly avid reader? Or a family full of book lovers? Receive up to 4 books per delivery, unlimited deliveries for 6 months or one year.

Subscription fee:  Rs.499 per month.

BILLING

1)    When am I billed?


You will be billed every six months as per the subscription plan you have opted for. This way you do not have to worry about monthly payments. Please note that the refundable deposit and initial registration fee are one- time charges only. Subsequent renewals will amount to only the subscription fee as per the selected plan.


2)    Do I have to sign up only on the first day of the month?


No, you can sign up on any day!


3)    Do I need a credit card to pay?


We have convenient payment options for our customers. We accept the following

-    Credit card
-    Debit Card
-    Personal cheque (in favor of "book&borrow.com”, payable at Chennai)
-    Cash

 

If you choose to pay by cheque or by cash, your membership status and your ability to borrow books will remain pending till we verify your payment. Collection of both cheque and cash payments will be made by book&borrow agents from your home.  

 

4)    Is it safe to pay by credit card?


Yes, we use secure internet technologies for handling credit card, debit card & internet banking account transactions. We DO NOT store your credit card, debit card or banking account information. The transaction is directly handled by the bank's payment gateway.

 

5)    Can I change my plan mid-subscription?


Yes, you can change your plan in the middle of your subscription period. If you wish to upgrade your plan, you will be asked to provide your billing details and we will charge the difference in subscription fees to you for the remaining months of your subscription. Your deliveries will resume as per your new subscription plan after we receive your payment. If you wish to step down to a lower subscription fee, you may do so only after your current six month subscription has expired.




SHIPPING

1)    Where do you deliver?


We deliver anywhere within Chennai city limits. If you are not certain if your area falls within our delivery service area, please write to us at info@bookandborrow.com and we will clarify any doubts you have. If your area is outside official city limits, we will make every effort to include your area, if it is feasible to do so.

 

2)    Which books are sent to me when I ask for a delivery?


We will send you the titles in the order specified in your Queue. This is, of course, subject to availability, and in case your top priority book is in circulation, the next available title will be shipped instead.

 

3)    How long does it take to get a book delivered?


We will be delivering or picking up the books within 3-4 working days.

 

4)    My books haven't arrived. What do I do?


Please call on +91 95001 83437/ 99404 36470 to enquire, if there is a delay in shipment.

 

5)    How often do you ship a book?


We have delivery & pickups every day, except sundays and national holidays.

 



RETURNS

1)    How do I return a book?


In your personal account page, you have the option of scheduling a Pickup/Delivery. Just click the "Ready for Pick Up" button and we will arrange for your books to be picked up. The next set of available books from your Queue will be delivered within 3-4 working days of collecting your previous shipment.  The first pick-up/ delivery attempted is a free service, however if we have to visit you more than once for the pick-up/delivery of a single shipment, you will have to meet the costs of the rescheduled pick-up/delivery.

 



 LOST/DAMAGED BOOKS


1)    I received a damaged book. What do I do?


Please call and inform us on +91 95001 83437/ 99404 36470 immediately and we will replace the book. Damage that merits replacement will include missing pages, loose binding or a missing cover but will not extend to the discolouration of pages that occurs naturally as books age.


2)    What if I lose or damage a book?


Please inform us at librarian@bookandborrow.com . Please understand that the cost of replacing a lost book or repairing damages will be charged to you and the payment for the same collected before you receive your next shipment of books. The amount charged will be the current retail value of the book.

 



MY QUEUE & MY FAVORITES

1)    What is My Queue?


The Book Queue is your books-for-delivery list. You can add whatever books you would like to read to this Queue. You can move your books up and down the Queue (by dragging the book) to rearrange the delivery priority.

 

2)    How many Books should I have in My Queue?


Our recommendation is to have at least 5 books in your Queue. Books are delivered to our customers based on the priority in their Queue and the availability of the book. To avoid a situation where you have too few books in your Queue, and all of them are out with other customers, we recommend a minimum of 10 books. There is no limit to the number of books you can add to your Queue.

 

3)    Why have I received books listed lower down my Queue instead of the ones listed first?


We strive to send you your top priority book first. However, if a situation arises in which your top priority books are in circulation, we will have to send you the books that are lower down in your Queue order.

 

4)    What is My Favorites?


We have provided a ‘favorites’ option for you to save and categorize your favorite books. You can shortlist books from the catalogue that you may want to read later but do not want to add to your Book Queue.  You have the option to move any book you want from your favorites list to your Queue to indicate that you would like to have it delivered.

 1) What is the book&borrow forum?

The book&borrow forum is a place where you can meet with and discuss a variety of topics with fellow book&borrow members.  Find and make new friends on book&borrow. Compare reading habits and review your favorite books. For more information on the forum, please refer to the forum help section here . (You will have to be a member in order to do this.)

 

2)    I can't find a book in your catalogue - will you get it for me?


Most certainly! We would love to add to our collection and we value our members’ recommendations. Write to us at librarian@bookandborrow.com and as soon as we get the book, you will be the first of our members to receive it.
